As a nonprofit that prepares underrepresented students for S.T.E.M. / Technology and Terminal Degree level careers, our emphasis is to be a motivational light in the darkness that is the preparations for matriculation on a college campus. All Americans deserve to be able to give their children a certain kind of grounding and guiding that ascribes to a great life whether the family is affluent or not. We target "motivation" to supply energy for the great effort needed to obtain mastery in educational and career objectives. Mastery is not a destination but a long journey with many twists and turns - some can be very challenging. Motivation can fuel risk taking thereby providing a foundation for success and lessening the burden of rejection. The right motivation will provide a strength, drive or fearlessness to keep taking calculated risk even in the face of deep seated  rejection. "There's a beauty to that kind of rejection, because it allows the motivation in you to find the strength within." We will need that strength to navigate the journey of life. Our travels will be beset with roads that go in many different directions. But for every person whose contentment and fulfillment come from faithfully executing a predetermined script, there are at least ten if not a hundred who had to rearrange the pages and play a part they hadn't expected to, in a theater they hadn't envisioned. Life is defined by little snags and big setbacks; success is determined by the ability to distinguish between the two and rebound from either.
