Executive Profile

Marva Hammons

Executive Vice President of Child and Family Services, Casey Family Programs.

Background

Mrs. Marva Hammons joined Casey Family Programs in 2007 and serves as its Executive Vice President of Child and Family Services. Ms. Hammons oversees the foundation’s direct practice work to improve the lives of vulnerable children and their families. She is responsible for the foundation’s nine field offices in Arizona, California, Idaho, Texas and Washington, in addition to its Indian Child Welfare office in Colorado. She has more than 30 years of experience working with and advocating for children and families. Before joining Casey Family Programs, Mrs. Hammons was Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Human Services, where she developed policies and procedures and managed state-run and county-administered programs. Earlier in her career, she served as Executive Director of the Family Independence Agency for the state of Michigan; Commissioner for New York City’s Human Resources Administration; and Manager of the Denver Department of Human Services. Her other service includes membership on U.S. delegations to Poland, England, Japan, Israel and Africa. She currently serves on the board of trustees of the Hunt Alternatives Fund. She formerly served on the board of directors of the Denver Foundation; the Mayor's Early Childhood Education Commission for the city and county of Denver; the Colorado Commission on Indian Affairs; the Colorado Council on Homelessness; the board of trustees of the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota; and as president of the board of directors for the American Public Human Services Association. Ms. Hammons holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah. She is a Graduate of the John F. Kennedy School of Government program for Senior Government Executives at Harvard University. She has taught at the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work and the Metropolitan State College in Denver.

Shun V. Williams

Background

Senior Telecommunications Specialist,  U.S. Dept. of Commerce 

Mr. Williams is a Senior, Telecommunications Program Specialist for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s BroadbandUSA initiative in the Department of Commerce. Building on his experience as an electronics engineer, company president, and veteran, responsible for programs ranging from $2 Million to $3.5 Billion, he is now responsible for expanding broadband capacity, broadband integration, outreach technical training and assisting the closeout of the $4 billion Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) ), that funded the deployment of broadband infrastructure, public computer centers, sustainable adoption of broadband service, and the statewide broadband planning and data collection initiative.  Previously, he managed communication programs as well as integrated veteran, educational, technical, health, vocational, commercial, and community groups in independent community anchor locations through outreach and using broadband technologies.  

Mr. Williams has led managed, directed and collaborated on numerous commercial, nonprofit and government programs.  Most recently, he worked with the Federal Aviation Administration on air traffic safety management for commercial aviation. He managed aviation navigation upgrades and technical programs including communications and surveillance.  He presided over AVBC Company that creatively expanded broadband use through several unserved and underserved communities.  Prior to that, he worked as a senior analyst for spectrum programs in the Department of Defense (DOD) where he steered technical projects and federal contract teams through program completion.  He spent the first sixteen years of his DOD career as a military aviator in combat operations as well as an engineer.  He managed aircraft upgrades, their infrastructure modernization programs as well as their facilities’ modifications.

Mr. Williams is married to the former Ms. Lisa M. Dodson.  The couple was married in May 1990 at the Chapel of Memories on MSU Campus.  They have two daughters, Portia and Rian.  The family resides in McLean, Virginia.
